With the end of August also comes the end of “Small Fry Month” here at Crochet with Passion. I am hoping you all enjoyed it as much as I did. It is always so much fun to crochet items for the little ones.
In case you are just joining us, here at Crochet With Passion we are dedicatting a crochet theme for each month. In doing this I am hoping not only to inspire you in seeking exciting crocheting projects but also to help you grow your skill as you try areas you might not be so comfortable with.
For ”Small Fry” month we are to crochet any item we want as long as it is for a baby or a child 12 and under. I chose to crochet a Li’l Sailor Dress set I had a pattern for in “Crochet with Heart” June 1999 issue.
I had the navy blue yarn in my stash and with a quick trip to JoAnn’s to purchase white yarn needed, I was ready. I wanted a baby yarn with a little sparkle in it so I chose Bernat Baby Coordinates baby yarn.
This is my second time crocheting this dress, the first was in 2002 for a friend’s baby shower. It has always been one of my favorite pieces that I have done, so I decided to make another one. This time though instead of giving it as a gift I am going to try and sell it.
The dress and cap took about 9 days to work, using the chain, single, half double, double crochet and double crochet decrease stitches. I was trying to finish a project from last month so I only had time for this one.
Would love to hear about your projects and all the wonderful experiences you had with our first “Small Fry” month.
Until next time, keep those hooks flying.
