The first kit of 2016 is for use in the kitchen. It is a Plastic Bag Holder and Tawashi. I hate to admit it but the first thing I did after opening the kit and looking over the pattern was looked up the word Tawashi.
The definition that I found on the internet is as follows:
A tawashi is made of various materials besides fiber of a hemp palm, and sponges, and are used for rubbing and washing and get the name from Japan. I always used these in my kitchen to clean dishes with, but like many others I just did not know the name of them.
The kit came with 4 skeins (approximately 130 yards each) of medium worsted weight yarn. There is one of each of the fall colors of brown, green, russet and coral and 1/2 yard of 1/4 inch wide elastic. I will need to use my 7 hook and tapestry and sewing needle and matching sewing thread to complete the projects.
The pattern is marked easy and comes in a choice of knitting or crocheting. I am looking forward to crocheting this and adding these items to my gift box for future use.
Until next time, keep those hooks flying.
