This November I received the Happy Feet Kit from Annie’s Hook & Needle Club. I will have to admit that this kit was delightful to crochet.

Although it is an intermediate pattern, the directions were clear, concise and simple to follow. In addition to the use of the basic stitches of the chain stitch (The Chain Stitch), single crochet (The Single Crochet) and double crochet (The Double Crochet), the pattern also calls for the more advanced stitches of the foundation double crochet, single crochet (Single Crochet Decrease) decrease and double crochet decrease (Double Crochet decrease).

The kit came with everything needed to complete one pair of socks with the exception of a D crochet hook. Every kit comes with two patterns to choose from- a knitted one and a crochet one, and of course, I always work the crochet pattern.

The yarn was two skeins of fine weight variegated yarn in black, blue and purple. The yarn comes wrapped in an unmarked label, which was a disappointment for me since I really enjoyed working with it. It prevents me from working with this particular yarn.

I was concerned that maybe the socks would be itchy when wearing, but to my delight they were very comfortable and warm.   Cleaning and maintaining the fabric requires washing machines to be set on gentle cycle in cool wash, and the dryer on gentle dry, which will make care for them easy to handle.

I am rating this kit a 9, losing only one point for the yarn being in unmarked labels. I can easily see myself crocheting a few more pairs of socks for the upcoming winter.

Until next time, keep those hooks flying.
