With winter fast approaching, hubby and I were going through and making a list of things we need for the winter. One of the things that hubby needed was a new hat to help protect his head from the cold Midwestern winds. So you could imagine my amazement when I opened this month’s kit from Annie’s Hook & Needle Club. This month I will be crocheting the “Beanie Blast” hat and headband.

This kit comes with a skein each of blue, green and white worsted weight yarn. I have the choice of making the hat for a woman or a man. I have decided to crochet the man’s and present it to my man as a gift of love. There is such an unexplainable satisfaction when you take the time and crochet something for a loved one, and then to see them enjoy it.

I will need a J hook and a tapestry needle to complete the crochet pattern. There is also the option of a pattern for knitting, but I prefer the crocheted ones. The patterns are easy level, only requiring a working knowledge of the chain stitch (The Chain Stitch), single crochet (The Single Crochet) and single crochet decrease (Single Crochet Decrease). So I am looking forward to this relaxing project.

With winter fast approaching; are you prepared to bundle up? How about those items to keep you warm that are unusual and unique we could discuss? Take the time now to check for hats, scarfs and mittens, as the snowy months will be here before you know it.

Until next time, keep those hooks flying.
