This months mail brought a kit from Annie’s Hook and Needle Club and its something that can be really useful. It was a Market Tote, which is something that always comes in handy at my house. This will however be the first one I have used one that will be crocheted and am looking forward to seeing how it will handle using it in the stores.
The kit came with two skeins of (2) fine green variegated yarn and a pattern for knitting and crocheting. I will be once again working the crocheting pattern. I will need to supply an I hook, tapestry needle and 8 stitch markers.
The tote is worked using a filet double crochet stitch (Filet – Open Mesh Spaces) which is always enjoyable and is an easy pattern to work. If you decide to crochet this Market tote you will also need to have a working knowledge of the chain stitch plus, there was an added challenge of the Filet double crochet decrease. This is for those of you who would like to gain some experience with simple shaping.
The yarn is 100% cotton, this means simple measures can be taken for the care of the tote. The tote can be cleaned in a cool gentle wash and a gentle low heat tumble dry. Remember not to use bleach or to iron.
In addition to the tote there is enough yarn for a Water Bottle Cover. No matter where I go I have water with me. I am looking forward to sporting this around snuggly tucked in this filet cover.
i am planning on having this done this week and am looking forward to sharing the experience with you next week.
Until next time keep those hooks flying.
