The mail truck brought a wonderful package today — my next kit for the “Annie’s Hook & Needle Club”. In month three of the club I will be crocheting dishcloths. One can always use dishcloths; either for yourself or as a small gift for a friend.
The kit came with three skeins of Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn in the following beautiful colors of Yellow, Country Green and Tea Rose. The stitches you would learn are the eyelet, seed and rib stitches, all of which I have already done, but it will be nice to review them. All the dishcloths measurements are 9 x 9″ and are done with a F hook.
The hardest thing for me about the this club is not starting the new projects the day they arrive. I need to finish my friends birthday gift by Sunday so these will have to wait. There just does not seem to be enough time in the day to do all the crocheting I would love to do.
I hear my responsibilities call now; so until next time keep those hooks flying.
I’m so glad I came across your blog. I’ve never heard of Annie’s Hook & Needle Club. As soon as I finished reading your post, I went to the website and signed up!
Love your blog – thanks for the information!

I am in my 4th month but my 5th month kit should be here soon! I knit them so its pretty nice to see the crochet you do. I also get the Mary Maxim kits of the month. They are very impressive! Their projects are slightly more advanced. I love them both though!

Lynn, I am so sorry you are having difficultly with this pattern. I did write a tutorial on this stitch (Cross Over Long dc). You can find the link under Speciality Stitches. It does have lots of pictures – let me know if it helped.

I don’t see the specialty stitches. I saw pictures, no video. Do you have one?

Thank you. The instructions have two different stitches. 1. Front cross over stitch. It states working loosely in front of 3 DC just madr, yo, insert hook front to back through the skipped single crochet and then bring hook to front over the sc (hook is in front of the 3 dc,) yo and draw lp through the sc and complete the double crochet.
2. Back cross over stitch. Working loosely in back of 3 dc just made, yo, insert hook from front to back through the sc, with hook in back, yo and draw lp through sc and complete the double dc. Stitch 1. Has me confused

way overpriced… I paid $24 for $4.50 worth of cotton yarn. 😦 I cancelled my subscription and I’m looking for a new club to order from. I do hope you do not delete this as it it better to be honest about the products so people will know not to waste hard earned money on something like this.

Gingerbread, first of all, good or bad, I never delete comments. I only delete the spam ones. I am sorry you were not happy with your kit. For me it is worth it. I receive the yarn, patterns and notions and because I live a few miles away from a store that sales yarn, I would spend close to that with the amount on gas there and back. My purpose for joining the club was to push my self to branch out into crochet projects I would not have done on my own. The club has done that for me. I have paid for all my kits out of my own pocket. However, the most important thing is not rather you join Annie’s Hook & Needle club, it is that you enjoy what you are crocheting and that you keep those hooks flying.
P.S. I am planning on joining this club when I completed Annie’s. I do not know any details about it, so you will have do your own research. It is the only other crocheting kit club I am aware of. (http://www.marymaxim.com/gifts/clubs-certificates/crochet-club-of-the-month.html) Mary Maxim. If you know of another one please pass on the information.
