Let me start by saying I have good news and bad news. First the good news, this week I have finished my Infinity Scarf. When I first received my kit I was more excited about the Ruffled Scarf, but after making both of them I actually ended up liking the Infinity Scarf more. Just goes to show, life is full of surprises.

Like the Ruffled Scarf, this one was an “easy skill pattern”. The stitches are dc (Double Crochet, ch (The Chain Stitch), fpdc and bpdc (Front and Back Post Double Crochet). I love doing fpdc and bpdc, they are so much fun.   This pattern was enjoyable and it was done in one afternoon; around five hours. I will warn you though when you have completed round 1 and the pattern reads (being careful not to twist piece, join) Pay close attention to this. If the piece does get twisted the scarf will not turn out very good. Consider yourself forewarned.

Now the bad news, I wanted to make a matching hat to go with the Infinity Scarf. Really loved the yarn; but when I went to my local yarn stores I had trouble matching the yarn so I decided to write the company.

My Email:

I received my first needle and hook club. The Scarves pattern (HNK903S)
I really like pattern and enjoyed doing the scarfs but you did not tell us the name brand of the yarn. All you said was soft white (sport) weight and bulky (chunky) weight boucle yarn.

I would very like to make a matching hat for one of the scarves could you please tell me the exact name of the yarn so I can buy some more. I tried matching it in our stores; but our choices in my area are limited. If you could please send me the required information I would be very grateful.

Thank you

Annie’s Email:

Dear Pamela,

Thank you for your email. The yarn included in our kits are chosen
exclusively and usually from yarn sources like Australia and because of
thier softness and look are not sold on our web site.

You can check our website for a yarn similar below:

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Thank you,

Although they have similar yarns, I will not be able to reproduce this one, major disappointment. I hope this will not be the case with all the kits. Time will tell.

All and all though I am pleased with my Kit from the club and am looking forward to my next kit which should be mail on February 22; if they are mail one month apart.  The only disappointing thing for me was the fact that I could not replace the yarn.  For the fact I am rating this kit an eight.

On a side note: since I found the hat pattern on the internet I have inclued the link for the pattern.

What are some of your favorite stitches to work?  Would love to hear from you.

But for now, I have one kit sent, finished and am eagerly awaiting to see what the future kits will bring.  Until next time, keep those hooks flying.
